5 września 2020, czyli koniec świata!
Prezes Portal Games, Ignacy Trzewiczek, wczoraj podczas programu Planszówki TV w ramach „Maratonu – 100 pytań i 100 odpowiedzi” odpowiadał na nurtujące graczy pytania.

Doomsday Machine otrzyma dodruk! Kiedy? W tym roku. Prezes potwierdził, że się pojawi i będzie to ostateczny dodruk, więc jeśli jeszcze jej nie posiadacie, to to będzie Wasza ostatnia szansa.
Big Box do Hexa?
Następna kwestia to mobilna wersja Neuroshimy Hex.
Hi.
Keeping an eye on you guys, since everything interesting about NS Hex happens in Poland – and in polish. 'Google Translate’ is actually pretty good these days, so, lately, I’ve begun posting some of your material in our small facebook group (’Neuroshima Hex Battles!’).
The future of the NS Hex app is a dear subject to me. A love/hate relationship, really, after years of neglect by Portal. I firmly believe a good NS Hex app, with ranking & statistics as the most important features, can make this game huge – it’s like it was made for online gaming & tournaments.
Problem: The new app is apparently on the way. But I haven’t seen any info on how they propose to do it? I mean, if I were Portal Digital, I’d start with an open discussion and take in ideas from the players. The fact that they’ve done this app on their own, 'behind closed doors’, is making me kind of worried. It’s in all our interest that we, the (hard core) players get to give feedback on the design choices and the way the app is set up. As it is, chances are this 'present’ will blow up in Portal’s face. If Portal want to make Neuroshima Hex to expand, find a bigger audience, the app is critical.

Hey, yeah, we try to post about all the things that are happening here. We really wanted to launch an English site too, but it’s hard with the Polish one sometimes, so it’s not an option to expand for now.
I totally agree – there was plenty of feedback for the app, hard to say if they’re gonna include it. On the good side of things, at least they are rewriting it and the old-new NSHex game will be out in the next few months. That’s great news given how stale things were with Big Daddy’s Creations at some point, and how buggy the game itself was. I hope that they will at least listen to the feedback when the app will be out to improve it. They are listening to the fans about tournaments’ rules, so there’s hope for the app too.
Yeah? So they’ve gotten some kind of ”wish list”, at least?
Say what you will about Big Daddy’s Creations”, but they DID have an open dialogue with the players when the app was made back in 2009/10. Some of the players in our (now broken) NS Hex online league tested it and gave feedback. BDC did the most important thing really good: the flow of the battles, the sounds, background score. They failed horribly with the lobby, the chats & the overall online set-up, though. And then they stopped caring about it entirely, for some reason. (Money? Isn’t it always about money?).
Apart from the obvious audiovisual and aesthetic side of the new app, and the Stats & Ranking system, and all the IAP’s to buy (like promos, 2.0 skin, Babel 13, etc), there is one more cool thing the AI could be used for. Someone on YouTube commented on one of Portal Game Informants that The AI could work as a test ground for new armies. It could easily simulate a score of battle outcomes in no time at all, and the problem with the time consuming process of balancing new armies manually would disappear. Isn’t that a great idea?

I know, I was one of those people who gave feedback and I’m still mentioned in the original app’s credits. I don’t know why they stopped, but I do remember they started developing other games and it seemed they didn’t have time for everything. And yeah, that IA test thing does sound like a great idea – I really hope they’ll make use of it!
You organized players in Poland, who have partaken in, and been running, leagues and tournaments for years now – you must have some pretty specific ideas on how the app should be designed to be able to host official online tournaments and leagues? Or is this a non-issue? Tournaments are all about the board game?

I don’t think Portal is even considering an app that would help organize leagues/tournaments. All that work is done by fans who are volunteers, they organize something locally out of passion. We barely scratched the surface here – after a few years we now have (an unofficial) Ranking based on the tournaments. The platform that calculates it was built by a single person in their free time, entering the scores is manual work.
I can understand that Portal don’t have the resources/manpower to organize tournaments. But with detailed stats & a serious ranking system in place in the app, we could have online tournaments based on player ranking. In one stroke, we would suddenly have a global NS Hex community. And this is how competitive NS Hex gaming will grow beyond the polish border, I believe.
You could have both ’live’ and asynchronous online tournaments. A live tournament should have some kind of in-game chess clock, I guess (?). The asynchronous ones will be trickier to set up in a good way.
You don’t think Portal will include a ranking system? In the pics of the new app from November 2017 you can se some form of statistics is included.

This makes total sense, and I do hope they’ll create it, it’s just that given how things worked in the past I won’t believe it until I see it.
